Security & privacy
Your data is yours. Here's how we prove it.
A budgeting app sees more about your life than almost anything else you use. These are the promises we make about that, and the mechanism behind each one — so you can check rather than take our word for it.
We never sell or share your data
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to "trusted partners", not in aggregate, not anonymised. There is no version of this we are comfortable with.
How it works
Tavera Money makes money from subscriptions and nothing else. There is no advertising business to feed, which is why this is a promise we can afford to keep rather than one we have to lawyer around.
Your bank login never touches us
When you connect a bank, you log in with Plaid — the same service used by most major finance apps. Your username and password are never sent to Tavera Money and we could not see them if we wanted to.
How it works
Plaid hands us an access token instead of credentials. That token is encrypted at rest in our database and is excluded from every API response, so it cannot leak through the app.
Bank access is read-only
Tavera Money can see your transactions and balances. It cannot move money, make a payment, or change anything at your bank.
How it works
We only ever request read scopes from Plaid. There is no payment initiation anywhere in the product, so there is nothing to misuse even in the worst case.
We never see your card details
Subscription payments go through Stripe. Your card number never reaches our servers.
How it works
Checkout runs inside Stripe, and all we store afterwards is the card brand and last four digits so you can tell which card is on file.
You can leave with everything
Export all of your transactions and your full day-by-day balance history as CSV files, whenever you like — including on the free plan.
How it works
Export lives in Settings under Data. There is no export tier, no waiting period, and no "contact us to request your data" step.
Disconnecting a bank does not erase your history
Unlink a bank and Tavera Money asks what you want to happen next: keep the accounts and every transaction as manual data you can still edit, or delete it all.
How it works
The choice is an explicit dialog every time, and the default is keeping your data. Downgrading a plan works the same way, and tells you exactly which connections it would remove before you confirm.
You can delete what you want
Bulk-delete transactions before a date — synced, manual, or both — and clear stored balance history the same way. To close your account entirely, email us and we will delete it.
How it works
The granular tools are in Settings under Data, behind a confirmation that says plainly it cannot be undone. Full account deletion is currently handled by our team rather than a button; a self-serve version is on the way.
No tracking inside the app
This marketing site uses Google Analytics, and only if you accept the banner. The Tavera Money app itself carries no third-party analytics at all.
How it works
We deliberately did not add analytics to the app. Putting an advertising company’s script on pages showing your bank transactions would undercut everything else on this page.
The only companies that touch your data
Not a vague reference to service providers. This is the complete list, and what each one does.
Plaid
Connects your bank and delivers transactions and balances. Only involved if you choose to link a bank.
Stripe
Processes subscription payments and stores your card details. Only involved if you subscribe to a paid plan.
Our hosting and database provider
Runs the servers and stores your data, encrypted at rest.
Our email provider
Delivers account emails such as verification, password resets and bill reminders.
Google Analytics
Measures traffic on this marketing site only, and only if you accept the cookie banner. It is not present in the app.
None of these are advertising relationships, and none of them receive your data to use for their own purposes. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
Questions
What people want to know
What is Plaid, and why should I trust it?
Plaid is the service that connects apps to banks. It is used by most major personal finance apps, and it exists so that apps like ours never have to handle your banking credentials. You log in to your bank through Plaid, and Plaid gives us read-only access to transactions and balances.
Can Tavera Money move money out of my account?
No. We only request read access, and there is no payment or transfer capability anywhere in the product. Tavera Money can see what happened to your money; it cannot do anything to it.
What data do you actually store?
Your account details, the accounts and transactions you link or enter, and the budgets, goals, debts and bills you create. If you link a bank we store an encrypted access token from Plaid. If you subscribe, Stripe stores your payment details and we keep only the card brand and last four digits.
Do I have to link a bank at all?
No. The free Basic plan has no bank linking whatsoever and is a fully featured budgeting app. Plenty of people prefer importing a CSV from their bank each month, and that works completely.
How do I delete my account?
Email [email protected] and we will delete your account and its data. You can also delete transactions and balance history yourself at any time from Settings under Data. A self-serve full account deletion is on the way.
Where is my data stored?
On managed servers in the United States, encrypted in transit over HTTPS and encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to the people who need it to run the service.
Something not answered here? Email [email protected] and a person will reply.
Budget without being the product.
Start on the free plan, keep your data yours, and take it with you if you ever decide to go.
